06/17/14 We have a date!

We received a letter in the mail today!

:drum roll please:

PRE-SETTLEMENT WALK-THROUGH: August 6, 2014
CLOSING DATE: August 8, 2014

Yay! If all goes according to plan, we'll have ourselves a brand new house! Man, there's so much that we need to do. We still need a washer, dryer, and a refrigerator. Oh and couches for the family room, the man cave,  and the living room... gah!

I think all we bought was a garage door opener.

It's time to really stay inside our apartment and not spend a single penny. We really need to save our funds for the important things for the house.

This past Monday we had a wiring meeting... then this Thursday is our pre-drywall meeting. Is there anything we should ask or do specifically during this day?

Our PM emailed us pictures of the house with installed HVAC equipment, plumbing, and electrical components. County inspections will process this week.

We are ridiculously excited. We can't wait to get out of our current home! Blah!

  1. Take pictures during the pre-drywall meeting so you know what's lurking behind the walls for future reference (pipes, electrical, vents/ducts, etc.). If you can remember, bring a notecard or something else to put in the picture as both reference for size and to help you note what room you're snapping a picture of. Will definitely help you figure out what you're looking at in the picture a few months/years from now.

  2. Hi Kimmie! Congrats on the house and the date!!! Sounds super exciting and can not wait until we get there! I was curious on how your wiring appointment went? Do you decide to go with any major upgrades or just stuck with the basics? Did you encounter any pushy sales tactics? We have our wiring appointment this weekend and just looking for some details from past experiences.

    1. Ahhhh Eboni!!! I totally just saw your comment! Blogger didn't update me on that! I hope your meeting went okay! Ours was so basic. The guy didn't even pushed us at all. He was chill and made us walk around their sales model rooms to check out what cool gadgets they had. We didn't want to get the major upgrades to avoid getting a high mortgage every month. So we're going to wait it out till our finances are settled and start digging into adding our own fancy wiring. lol.
