07/17/14 Water and Electricity!

We want to thank our SR Beth for letting us see our house yesterday during after hours. We took a look at it yesterday evening and had a field day!

Lights!
We have electricity! Oh and it feels so damn good. The AC was on when we got there, it felt good during this summer heat.

We took our time walking around the house and looking at the flooring, the patio, and porch, and of course the lights.

Man, everything looked great! We were getting excited each time we see something new from the last time we visited. There was toilets, water, faucet fixtures... and speaking of faucet fixtures...

I love the kitchen faucet... It's pretty neat that I can pull it out and it had different spray actions going on... like a shower and a regular stream. I'm like a foreigner to faucet fixtures. Haha.

We love the AC in the house, it gets cold quick and we felt very comfortable... I wish there was carpet already so I can lay on it and take a quick cat nap. lol.

Faucet!
Attic lights!
So I suck and don't know what size our deck is so I took pictures to show caparison for LaurLew! I thought it was a bit big... but since we have one of the smallest homes in our area, anything next to it makes it look big! lol.

From the morning room
From the 2nd floor
From the backyard
I love the patio light!
Until next time! Which would probably be Sunday. lol

07/13/14 Granite, porch, lights, floors, patio! Ole!

WARNING: Prepare for massive images overload!

We went to see the house today. We picked up the key at the model home and our SR told us that there's someone in our home giving a tour. Last Sunday, she told me they've been giving a lot of tours at our home since we're the only Venice on a corner lot, with an open finished attic, and customized loft. So I guess our home is being used as an example. lol

We saw the family coming out of the garage with this guy who I've forgotten his name... he introduced us the person who started Ryan Homes in Culpepper Landing. I have no idea what came over me, but I kinda sounded prude to them... I said, "Like our home?" with the most stupidest grin on my face. Trust me you guys, I'm not that kind of person and I have no idea what made me say that. Haha! I know it's not really ours just yet... but hey I'm damn proud of it.

I like how our home is being shown though. We want people to know that even though it's a cookie cutter home, you can still customize some things that aren't considered "optional".

Anyway, here are some new updated pictures! There were some guys working on our porch and patio. We made ourselves at home and took a gander inside.

Breaker breaker. Can you spot the spelling errors?

We were wondering if we need to go out and buy an extinguisher... Glad they're giving us this fancy white one.

Have no fear! Santa Cecilia Light is here!

I think it looks good!

I like how good the kitchen looks in this picture. lol

Double double sink y'all!

A sample of our Misty Gray flooring that's going to be underneath our gas stove.

Close up on the granite.

Back deck patio

Front porch (Someone was working on it to the left and I said, "hi" and he just looked at me. Sheesh.)

Light fixture in the powder room.

Light fixture in the master bathroom.

Light fixtures on the 2nd floor hallway.

These fire/carbon monoxide detectors are everywhere! In each room and hall.

Hall bathroom flooring

Powder room flooring

Laundry room flooring

Neighbor's home. Don't know what model they're getting. It looks like a Milan.

Recessed lights in the attic. I can't wait to see them light up at night.

Porch is coming along!

Deck is coming along!

I like how long the deck is.

More pictures are going to be uploaded by the end of this week to see the finishing touches on the porch and patio! Can't wait. Hope you guys don't mind! lol.

06/30/14 Just a quick update

Just received an update from our PM.

We'll probably go by the house today anyway... we need to take measurements of the laundry room and see what washer and dryer can fit in there. Plus. there's something about a tropic storm coming through this week... goodness. Might be a bad 4th of July for us here at Hampton Roads.

So here's our update:

Good afternoon from Culpepper Landing,

The drywall process is nearly complete.  The crew is in today sanding the walls in preparation for the base coat of paint tomorrow.  Also today we are running the water and sewer lines to the street and installing the garage door.  Tomorrow we will receive your interior trim and doors; the trim carpenters will follow on Wednesday to install everything.

The exterior of the home is making steady progress.  The siding and shutters are up and we will begin the front porch and back deck before the end of the week.

I have included some pictures that I took today; if you have any questions don't hesitate to reach out.

It's not easy being green

I'm glad we have a lot of windows in our morning room.
I'll take more pictures of the drywall and post it later when I go see the house... I'll probably take pictures of the neighborhood too since my co-workers and friends are asking what the area looks like.

06/27/14 Our home has color!

So last night we lost power at our apartment for 3 hours.

I forgot that I received a letter from our electric company stating that they're going to work on the power during 9pm to midnight.

I was going crazy. It was hot and was totally losing it. So my boyfriend and I decided to go see the house. This is the first time we get to see the community at night.

I like it. It was so quiet and safe... a lot of light illuminating the streets. It felt like a whole different place. We haven't seen the home since last Monday... and it gave us the biggest surprise ever. Our house finally has siding!

It's so dark!

Have no fret... I came back the next day with my bro and took daytime pictures! (But the damn sun got in the way of the lighting!)

I love love love the sage green. I don't care what anyone else says... it's different... modern-ish... eco friendly looking... haha!

At first I was having my heart set for a red or blue house... but it was too late since our neighbors already chosed it. I really like this Milan... sigh. Our neighbors have great taste!

Blue and darkish tan with maroon shutters and brown steel roof
I finally met our neighbors on the other side of the corner lot. We talked for a while about our hometown and what got us here today. We'll get along great! This will be their 3rd home being built in Hampton Roads, so they're experienced builders!

P.S. Hope you guys like the new template on my blog. Decided to change it up since our home finally has it's template.

06/24/14 Pre-Drywall Meeting

We just had our Pre-drywall this past Thursday evening. Super late post, I know... lol

And it was hot. I was sweating like a fat baby in Disney World.

So much new stuff I see..... check it:

Green siding!

So green!

Green and mean!

Breaker box

Soaking tub... I want to sit in it.

Shower and tub
Shower... Yes I stood on it.
Guest bathtub

We started from the third floor and moved ourselves down. Man heat rises for real. I'm just a little worried that we didn't add a rough-in for a fan for the attic. We should have because like I said, it was a sauna. Oh well... at least it has its own thermostat so we can regulate the cold air in there. We asked about pushing for a rough-in for a wet bar sink thingy majiggy in the finished attic since the drywall isn't up yet. (We didn't ask in time for Ryan Homes to do it so we gotta find someone to do it for us.) They told us to get a plumber to come out as soon as possible before the sheet rock goes up. Which will happen this Tuesday coming up... now to find a plumber... because we want to do this before they start covering up the bones of the house. Thankfully our real estate agent was there at the walkthrough and said she knows someone in mind to do so.

2nd Floor thermostat has to be on this owner's bedroom wall.
Then we moved to the second floor. We went to another Venice that just completed drywall a while back and the second floor thermostat was in the owner's bedroom... in the middle of a wall where you would put a television on... I mean, it was so weird and an eyesore. Our sales agent told us that was a mistake and that they will fix that for the people who own that Venice. So we request for that not to happen to us, and that we want it at least out in the hallway. Our PM hopes that the wire to the thermostat can reach out to the hallway if not close to the door in the master room as possible.

Switch is too high... almost close to the outlet.
Then we move to the first floor. We couldn't get the fireplace switch to be next to the light switches, so we opted to just have it above the mantel. My best friend had hers above the mantel and she just had it covered with some picture frames. So we requested it to be lowered down a tad bit since it was super high.

The garage had insulation all around! We were so psyched because we didn't know that we would get it. However, our PM said that was a mistake and they're going to tear down the insulation that's not touching the kitchen, family room, and the living room.We were telling him to keep it up and avoid all that labor. He said he'll see.

I keep pressuring my PM about the damn cabinets above the refrigerator... he said he can't do anything about it because the back of the cabinets have to be nailed towards the wall... bloggers who had it done... is yours nailed towards the sides? How was yours done?

*UPDATE*

1. They totally forgot to lower the fireplace switch and the sheet rock is already up. We talked to our PM and he said that the construction workers already did it before he had a chance to tell them to lower it down. He will fix it and will be above the mantel.
2. Couldn't get a plumber in time so we're not getting a wet bar in the attic. (Yeah kinda pissed off as of now.)
3. They tore the insulation off... damn! Thought we can keep it up there for super insulated fun. We should have like slipped money to them to keep it up.
