05/29 Oh for duck's sakes...

Gosh so much has happened this past week.

We had Florentjin Hofman's Rubber Duck come into town for the week. This past weekend was its last days with us here in Norfolk. Part of me is sad, but part of me is glad because of tourists that came to see the duck was RIDICULOUS. lol. We live across the duck and it takes forever to get home because of all the foot and car traffic.
Rubber Ducky came by into our neighborhood.
Cute.
Yesterday we went to go see the house. It's shocking to see the foundation is up... they're quick over there. It's hitting me like a ton of bricks. I'm looking at the foundation and I'm thinking to myself... "Why does it seem so... small?" I know a Venice isn't that tiny. It's cozy... but just seeing the foundation up is making me nervous. I know it's just the two of us living in this home and I should feel grateful but I had little bit of doubt in the back of my head. I just kept complaining that the garage won't fit two cars... gah. My boyfriend says, it's just an illusion and It'll look more bigger once the framing is up. Gah! What is wrong with me?... We've been to two different Venice's and to me it was big. So how can just by looking at the foundation... I just start to freak out? Blah!

So today we got an e-mail that the garage slab is poured in. Man, this is crazy... we were just there yesterday and already more progress is happening. From our PM:

Good afternoon from Culpepper Landing,

I just wanted to give you a quick update on the progress we've made so far on your new home.  I have attached a picture that I took today; as you can see we have completed the crawl space foundation and the guys just poured the garage slab.  Your structural steel is on-site and the lumber should arrive tomorrow.  Framing will begin either this weekend or on Monday.  By this time next week your house will be nearly under roof!  If you haven't been by in a while, next week will be a good time to see some action.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to call or drop an email.

Foundation and garage slab is in.

I'll keep you guys posted with my shenanigans and will follow through with visiting next week's adventures.

  1. Don't worry about it seeming small. We thought the same thing until drywall went up. Actually, it still doesn't appear quite as big as I know it is. Personally, I think our eyes are trained to see space with furniture. It'll be all good once you have furniture in!
